The McNeese State Bands are proud to announce our Cowboys in DCI for 2009!
Michael Carter: Colorguard
Michael is a graduate of Lumberton High School, Lumberton, TX. He is a music education major at McNeese State studying with Professor Bill Rose, a member of the MSU colorguard and an instructor at Barbe High School in Lake Charles. This will be his first year with the Santa Clara Vanguard.
Stephanie LaCoste: Trumpet
Stephanie, a 2009 graduate of Sulphur High School, Sulphur, LA, is the daughter of Carl and Jan LaCoste. Her band directors have included Mr. Tim McMillen (W.W. Lewis Middle School) and Mr. Fred Roeder (Sulphur High). After completing tour with SCV, Stephanie will be attending McNeese State in the fall. She will be majoring in music education and studying with Professor Dave Scott. This will be her first year with the Santa Clara Vanguard.
Mathew McMillen: Percussion (Front Ensemble)
Mathew is a 2009 graduate of Sulphur High School, Sulphur, LA. He will begin his studies in music education this fall at McNeese State as a student of Professor Lonny Benoit. This will be Mathew’s first year with the Santa Clara Vanguard.
Robert (Alex) Richard: Percussion (Front Ensemble)
Alex is a graduate of West Hardin High School, Saratoga, TX. As a music education major, he is a member of the McNeese State University Wind Symphony, Steel Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Cowboy Marching Band. Alex is marching his second year with the Santa Clara Vanguard and is a student of Professor Lonny Benoit.
Travis Fraser: Mellophone
Travis is a senior at MSU, expecting to graduate in the fall of 2009 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. A student of Professor Rod Lauderdale, he will be student teaching at Barbe High School in the fall. In his four years at McNeese State, he has performed with the Pride of McNeese, the wind symphony, and various chamber ensembles. He has also played with the Lake Charles Symphony and the Rapides Symphony in Alexandria. This will be Travis’ first year with The Cavaliers, and it will be his age-out year.
Michael Royer: Percussion (Snare)
Michael Royer, 2009 graduate of Klein High School in Spring, TX, is marching in his second year with the Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps from LaCrosse, WI. In his first season with the Blue Stars, he was named Percussion Rookie of the Year. Michael will be an instrumental music education major at McNeese State.
Tommy Estling: Percussion
Tommy is a 2009 graduate of Westlake High School, Westlake, LA. He will be studying with Professor Lonny Benoit as a music education major at McNeese State this fall.
Chace LeBlanc: Baritone
Chace is a graduate of Erath High School, Erath, LA. He is a student of Professor Bill Rose and will be entering his sophomore year at McNeese State as a music education major. This will be Chace’s first year with the Madison Scouts.
